Bocconi #StartupDay: here are the best startups of 2017

A future in which surgical operations are simpler and less invasive (Value Biotech – MILAN), in which corporate welfare services are available to all at reasonable costs (Jointly) and in which those who violate our copyright rights on the net are readily spotted (Kopjra). It is the one imagined by the startups awarded at the third edition of the Bocconi #StartupDay Award, organized by Bocconi University with Citi Foundation as part of the #pathways2progress initiative.

Eight startups had reached the final stage of the award, divided into three categories: the best startup of 2017, the best startup in the field of social innovation and the best millennial startup (made up of a team of "under 30"). The award for companies consists of participation in management training courses at the SDA Bocconi School of Management.

The awards ceremony took place this morning at Bocconi University, during a #StartupDay which also saw the rectors of Bocconi University (Gianmario Verona) and Milan Polytechnic (Ferruccio Resta) present a joint project of the two universities, which have decided to pool skills and services to create an integrated ecosystem in Milan to support entrepreneurship and the creation of new businesses.

In the afternoon, 35 new companies selected in recent months and linked, in some way, to Bocconi (because they are formed by alumni or students or because they are hosted by the Speed MI Up incubator, participants in the StartUp Training program or selected among those who participated, this summer, at Campus Party) met potential investors.

The product is compact, light, portable and is offered to hospitals at a very competitive price. Jointly (www.jointly.pro)

In the past, supplementary welfare (a market estimated at 15 billion euros) was mostly managed by large companies through direct relationships with providers of goods and services. Jointly offers a platform that allows companies to share the know-how, times and costs of implementing welfare services with other companies, helping them to identify quality counterparties in the area. With a network of 40 client companies (350.000 employees) and over 200 partners, Jointly offers access to a digital platform with more than 5.000 services to support people's needs. Entrepreneurial team: Anna Zattoni, Francesca Rizzi, Marcello Viti, Matteo Venturi and Silvia Torselli.

Millennial Startups 2017

Kopjra (www.kopjra.com)

Content creation and creativity are an increasingly important source of income for businesses, but intellectual rights violations are not easy to detect and punish, especially in the digital environment. The young people of Kopjra propose a forensic computer system capable of identifying violations, keeping track of them and notifying those responsible, requesting the cessation of the harmful behavior. The three areas in which Kopjra operates are those of copyright, counterfeiting and corporate reputation. Entrepreneurial team: Tommaso Grotto, Emanuele Casadio and Matteo Scapin.
