Bocconi, the challenge of companies in public services

The Bocconi University of Milan is hosting today, from 10 am, the conference “The challenges of companies in the public services sector. The opinion of the protagonists", in which the four Chief Executive Officers of the major Italian groups in the world of ex-municipalized companies (A2A, Acea, Hera and Iren) participate, as well as Giovanni Valotti, president of Federutility, who will liven up the discussion, moderated by Andrea Gilardoni, president of Agici and professor at Bocconi. The recent appointment of the new top management of the local utilities has created expectations in all stakeholders (employees, customers, the financial system, etc.) because they are entrusted with tasks that are certainly very complex and important for the country.

Waste, water, gas and electricity are in fact utilities essential for the economic and social development of nations and local and regional communities. With the crisis of 2008, the sector, with some delay compared to others, began to experience periods of difficulty due to the drop in demand and overcapacity. How can we serve the community better and more efficiently (at a lower cost) and meet emerging needs within a framework of limited financial resources?

The debate is organized by CERTeT - Center for Regional, Transport and Tourism Economics - and by the Department of Policy Analysis and Public Management of Bocconi University.
