Rejected and fished out: from Minniti to Boldrini, only D'Alema remains out

Thanks to the safety net provided by the Rosatellum bis, which allows for multiple candidacies in the proportional system, a crowd of ministers and political bigwigs enters Parliament anyway after losing (even badly) the challenge for single-member constituencies – Many enter, from Minniti to Boldrini – Only D'Alema remains out.

Submerged and then saved by the Rosatellum bis. A patrol of ministers and bigwigs of the main political forces, after leaving the door on March 4, returns through the window at the conclusion of the ballot. It does so thanks to the multiple parachutes provided for by the new electoral law, which allowed the same person to be a candidate in a single-member constituency and in no less than five proportional lists at the same time. Hard to miss when you have so many bullets in the magazine.

And indeed the safety net worked as expected. Thanks to the multiplication of nominations, many illustrious politicians have saved their seats they had been (even badly) defeated in battles governed by the majority.

Here is the list of the most illustrious catches:

  • Marco Minniti (PD)
  • Andrea Orlando (PD)
  • Dario Franceschini (PD)
  • Roberta Pinotti (PD)
  • Valeria Fedeli (PD)
  • Maurizio Martina (PD)
  • Matteo Orfini (PD)
  • Debora Serracchiani (PD)
  • Piero De Luca (PD)
  • Lucia Annibali (PD)
  • Micaela Biancofiore (Florence)
  • Sandra Lonardo Mastella (Florence)
  • Vittorio Sgarbi (Florence)
  • Claudio Borghi (League)
  • Alberto Bagnai (League)
  • Gian Luigi Paragone (M5S)
  • Gregorio De Falco (M5S)
  • Laura Boldrini (Leu)
  • Pietro Grasso (Leu)

Nothing to do even with the repechage, however, for Massimo D'Alema (Leu).
