BMW crashes on the Stock Exchange: rumors of non-standard emissions

The stock of BMW on the Stock Exchange fell sharply, reaching a minimum of 72,05 euros (-9,7% at the end of the morning). Sales began after press rumors that even some SUVs of the Bavarian brand would have emissions above the norm. According to the specialized magazine Autobild, reports Bloomberg, emissions were measured on an X3 xDrive 20d 11 times higher than the limits set by the EU.

In response to Autobild's reconstructions, BMW claimed that the group's vehicles are not equipped with programs to alter emissions. “At BMW there are no systems for recognizing test cycles – said the German company in a note, again according to Bloomberg – all systems remain active outside of the tests”. The decline in the BMW share then gradually eased, to minus 4,77 per cent with 75,02 euros in early afternoon trading.
