Simple: the largest investment company in the world has announced the purchase of the controlling stake in Authentic Brands, a New York-based group that manages over 50 brands, including licenses for many celebrity names. The spearheads are, in fact, the actress of "Some like it hot" and the King of Rock 'n' Roll, who alone generate (still) an annual turnover of 9,3 billion dollars worldwide .

The portfolio also includes rights to exploit the names of sports legends such as Muhammad Ali e Shaquille O'Neal, as well as a well-known magazine such as Sports Illustrated and most chain stores Nine West e Aeropostale.

In the operation BlackRock has invested more 870 million dollars, for an overall valuation of Authentic Brands that exceeds four billion. The private equity group thus becomes the majority shareholder in place of Leonard Green & Partners. The operation was conducted by the new fund launched by BlackRock, called Long Term Private Capital.
