Bitcoin, record price over 15 thousand dollars

Bitcoin, record price over 15 thousand dollars

The Bitcoin race does not stop. The value of the cryptocurrency has reached over 15 thousand dollars on the Coinmarketcap platform (at 15.244.40), updating the historical record for the umpteenth time. The new leap (+18%) comes later the one achieved in the last session, which had seen Bitcoin rise from $12 to $14 in just one day.

An incredible surge, considering that at the beginning of 2017 the exchange rate was just 966 dollars. The stock has since taken off, gaining something like 1.478%. In the last few sessions, trading has settled at around 10 billion dollars a day and the capitalization of Bitcoin has reached 252 billion dollars.

THE NEW BITCOIN FUTURES

Meanwhile, however, experts continue to preach caution. And not just because already in the past, after stellar gains, the cryptocurrency has suffered sharp double-digit collapses. Through the FIA (Futures Industry Association), the most important banks have warned against the risks presented by the forthcoming start of trading in virtual currency at the Cme, the Chicago Mercantile Exchange: "We are not able to transparently manage the entry of Bitcoin in a regulated price list”.

Triggering the cryptocurrency's latest rally was news that the world's two major regulated derivatives markets are about to launch Bitcoin futures contracts. In addition to the Chicago Mercantile Exchange, the Chicago Board Options Exchange will also enter this market. On the Cme, negotiations will start in a week, while on the Cboe, the debut is already scheduled for tomorrow, 8 December. Meanwhile, Japan's Tokyo Financial Exchange is also considering creating a Bitcoin future.

These initiatives, which mark the debut of the main cryptocurrency in official finance, have been interpreted by most operators as a bullish bet and have been successful so far. However, there is no lack of criticism: many commentators consider these moves a gamble, as well as underlining that they will not be able to guarantee a sufficient level of transparency.

OTHER CRYPTOCURRENCIES

However, the advance of Bitcoin is also dragging the rest of the sector. According to Coinmarketcap estimates, all cryptocurrencies now have a capitalization of $376 billion. A value higher than that of Wall Street giants such as Exxon and JP Morgan.
