Record-breaking Bitcoin: over $4.000

New record for bitcoin, which for the first time has touched and exceeded $4.000, on the back of growing optimism that transactions with digital currency are destined to increase rapidly. As CNBC reports, bitcoin hit $4.187, jumping 17% from Friday, on the heels of the activation of a plan to speed up the execution of transactions, moving some data off the main network.

The virtual currency has gained more than 300% so far in 2017. 'Until now a lot of people didn't really think it could go up again. With the application of this protocol, in theory the amount of transactions processed at a reasonable speed will be much higher, so many more people have bullish positions on bitcoin', said Arthur Hayes, founder of the BitMex exchange .
