Bioeconomy: new EU tender for start-ups and SMEs. Good products with low environmental impact

The bioeconomy, pushing for new jobs within the next ten, twelve years. The European Union continues to select projects and ideas from small and medium-sized industries, start-ups and other productive organisations. The forecast of new employment is among the highest assumed so far by the European Commission: about 400 new jobs. In this area the new is open gang of BioeconomyVentures. By January 17, 2023 small companies can present innovative solutions in the field of circular economy, food and chemistry. The tender concerns both funding to start the activities and subsequent development. A maximum of 65 projects will be selected and will become part of a 6-month programme.

The bioeconomy held back by bureaucracy.

It is an operation that looks far ahead and qualifies as a pillar of the ecological transition. The call concerns in particular studies and applications on biological chemicals, plastics and biobased materials, industrial paints and coatings, bio-based home and personal care products. The starting idea is the creation of a widespread and sustainable entrepreneurial ecosystem among the less celebrated companies. BioeconomyVentures for the EU goes to the heart of one of the main obstacles to the development of the economy of the future: bureaucracy. Many state procedures hold back the ambitions and goals of small business promoters. In Italy some prospects have opened up in agriculture .but in general 90% of start-ups and spin-off companies - says the EU - fail within three years of creation. 10% even within the first year. According to Forbes, programs like these in the tender have grown three times faster and companies have managed to raise seven times more funding than their counterparts, not supported by any program. The support of BioeconomyVenture in the coming years will also have a geographical expansion beyond Europe. There is in fact another program – Ambassador Programme- that it will in turn select other proposals and involve 20 clusters and intermediary organisations. The occasion is also useful for local authorities and scientific institutions that can support the development of zero-impact industries and patents.
