Big data, Business Register turns 25

IThe Commercial Registry is 25 years old. The official digital registry of the entire Italian entrepreneurial system, managed by the Chambers of Commerce system, collects and archives all the information and news concerning 6,1 million businesses, 10 million company directors, 1,3 million Italian professionals. All in compliance with the standards of quality, safety, timeliness, completeness and accessibility of the information and documents contained therein.

It was February 19, 1996, when all the functions performed by the Commercial Chancelleries of the Courts were assigned to the Chambers of Commerce alone. The result of this transfer of skills was the creation of a fully digitized register, with which today the Chambers of Commerce, through the technological network managed by InfoCamere, collect and archive all the information concerning Italian businesses, administrators and professionals.

It is a huge big data, which is constantly being improved and updated to make information easier to access. Interviewed millions of times every year, it releases an average of 23 million searches, 144 thousand of which in English for the benefit of international operators interested in establishing collaborative relationships with Italian companies. A tool that can represent the basis for simplifying many procedures even more.

The continuous evolution of the computer system has allowed the complete dematerialization and simplification of the processes for collecting and archiving documents containing all the information on our productive world.

“The Business Register – commented the president of Unioncamere, Carlo Sangalli – is the most important information reference point of the entrepreneurial system of our country. It is a fundamental instrument of legality for the economy and at the same time a precious source of clear and accessible information on our productive world. Information that today is increasingly essential for companies to consciously plan their development strategies and identify new growth paths".
