There are about 600, representing 500 wineries, the Italian wines that this year have obtained the mention of the five bunches, or the recognition of excellence by the judges of Bibenda, the Guide to Italian wines published by the Italian Sommelier Foundation.

At the head of all the regions of Italy, a result that is practically, Piedmont is placed with 142 award-winning wines, seconded a short distance away from Tuscany which takes home 129 awards. On the other hand, the other regions are far away with many surprises. In fact, Sicily leads the chasing group with 41 wines awarded with five clusters. Veneto has to settle for fourth position with 36, South Tyrol with fifth with 35. Followed by Puglia, Lombardy and Marche with 34, Friuli with 33, Campania with 31, Lazio with 25, Trentino with 24, Umbria with 18, Abruzzo16 and Sardinia on equal terms with 13, Liguria and Emilia Romagna with 11, Basilicata closes with eight wines, Calabria with 6 and Molise with 1.

It should be underlined that nine Italian companies managed to take home more than one award, a sign of the high and continuity of their production. And I'm in Piedmont Gaja with six awards, Bruno Giacosa, Conterno and the Spinetta with three. In Lombardy, on the other hand, Ca del Bosco does the en plein: four award-winning wines. In South Tyrol, the Cantina Terlano and the San Michele Appiano winery stood out with three victories. Finally, success in Veneto for Tedeschi who takes home three awards and in Abruzzo for Valentini who wins the same number.
