Bersani, today face to face with M5S

Today is the last day of consultations to try to form a new government. On Thursday the pre-appointed premier, Pier Luigi Bersani, will have to return to report to the Quirinale. The Head of State wants certainties on the absolute majority in the Senate before giving the full mandate to the leader of the Democratic Party. But by now it seems that, barring miracles, Bersani doesn't have the numbers. It is also unlikely that the President of the Republic will want to give him a few more days to make other attempts.

The appointment of the day is between the secretary of the Democratic Party and the representatives of the Movimento 5 Stelle. The grillini have already repeatedly clarified that they will never vote for trust in a Bersani executive and to avoid pranks from some sniper (as happened in the election of the presidents of the chambers) they asked and obtained that today's meeting be broadcast in live streaming.

Meanwhile, yesterday the secretary of the PDL, Angelino Alfano, reiterated that the only practicable path for the centre-right is the one most disliked by the democrats, ie broad agreements and a highly governed government. Bersani also encountered difficulties in the negotiations with Mario Monti's Civic Choice, who did not deny his support, but only on condition of a broad parliamentary consensus.
