Berrozpe (ex Whirlpool) leaves Italy and returns to Spain

Esther Berrozpe Galindo, former president of Whirlpool Emea and executive vice president of Whirlpool Corporation – as reported by the blog lacasadipaola.it – left Italy for good and returned to Spain where she assumed the position of independent director at the top of the group Telepizza, founded in Madrid in 1987 and forerunner of home delivery of pizza with a turnover of 561 million euros and strong growth throughout Europe, South America and Africa.

Berrozpe had quit last August his role at the European summit of the multinational following an illness that had blocked and suspended all activities in the Group. Role that had been assumed ad interim by Marc Bitzer who, with a brilliant career within the group, had been appointed CEO of Whirlpool Corporation in 2017, the first non-American in this position.

Berrozpe, of Basque origin, was responsible in Whirlpool EMEA for an area of 30 countries, 15 industrial sites, 6 in Italy, and over 24 employees. And he had managed the still difficult merger with Indesit Company, with great tact and balance as well as the transfer from the headquarters in Comerio on Lake Maggiore to Rho (Milan). In the meantime, the difficulties of the markets for durable goods, due to years of stagnation in consumption, had forced the group to undertake a long process of confrontation with the unions, which for the moment has registered an agreement with the workers' representatives, based on a three-year investment plan of 250 million euros with zero redundancies - after years of staff contractions - and no relocations.

In the meantime, according to our sources, the hypothesis of an agreement between Whirlpool and the Chinese giant Midea for the possible sale to the latter of the EMEA activities of the American multinational, which we were the first to reveal in November 2017, and which has never been denied, it is still standing. And it continues – as reported by lacasadipaola.it – with intense and complex negotiations between the top management and experts of the two big names.
