Bernabè to Sky: "New elections are not desirable in the short term and it is impossible to leave the euro"

According to the president of Telecom Italia Franco Bernabè “the political situation is complex but it has potential for innovation which must be fully utilized and a long period of intense reforms must be launched, as in Germany in the past. Exiting the euro would be catastrophic for Europe” – “Casaleggio was one of the few with whom I talked about the web”

Bernabè to Sky: "New elections are not desirable in the short term and it is impossible to leave the euro"

"It is impossible for Italy to leave the euro because it would be catastrophic not only for Italy but for Europe". This is what the executive chairman of Telecom Italia claimed in a long interview with Maria Latella on Sky.
However, Bernabè insisted on the fact that "the Italian economy and its businesses urgently need liquidity in the short term, which can be activated through ECB funds" and that "the Bank of Italy can also do something more" while banks must be able to distinguish between those who deserve to be financed and those who don't, without closing or indiscriminately reducing credit to all companies.

On a political level, Bernabè said he hoped for a new president of the Republic who would be the expression of a "profound political experience" while "drawing from the so-called civil society for the Quirinale would be very risky".
After explaining that Grillo's use of the web in his electoral campaign (“he used it to consolidate his community and not to expand it”) was very different from Obama's (“the American President searched the web for citizens and voters one by one") stated that "a return to the polls in the short term is not desirable" but that, "despite being very complex, the current political situation is full of potential for innovation which must be fully exploited because change is important”. For the president of Telecom, Italy needs a program of intense reforms extended over time to return to Serie A, as Germany has done in the past.

Bernabè also added that he had personally met Roberto Casaleggio, Grillo's right-hand man, in his previous and brief experience at the helm of Telecom and acknowledged that at the time "Casaleggio was one of the few in the group with whom it was possible to reason with on the web".

Finally, Bernabè assured that "La7 will remain as it is because Cairo is a pure publisher who wants a free and pluralist television"
