Berlusconi suspends himself: he is no longer a Knight

The communication, which the leadership of the Federation of the Knights of Labor "acknowledged" yesterday, arrived on the eve of the meeting of the Board, which concluded the examination of Berlusconi's position after the conviction of the Court of Cassation of the first August 2013 in the Mediaset trial.

Berlusconi suspends himself: he is no longer a Knight

He was "the Knight" par excellence, but since yesterday the title no longer belongs to him. Silvio Berlusconi suspended himself from the Federation of Knights of Labour. The communication, which the Federation's top management "acknowledged" yesterday, arrived on the eve of the Board meeting, which concluded the examination of Berlusconi's position after the conviction of the Court of Cassation on 2013 August XNUMX in the trial Mediaset.

“The Board of Directors and the Board of Arbitrators have thus concluded the process envisaged by the statutory provisions - reads a statement published on the Knights' website - and which began well before the solicitations and controversies raised in the press. In the final stages of this procedure, on the eve of today's meeting, the National Federation of Cavalieri del Lavoro received a letter of self-suspension from Silvio Berlusconi from the Federation itself, despite having appealed to the European Court of Justice and having a petition in the process of review of the process that concerned him. The Board of Directors has taken note of the self-suspension”.

Berlusconi's appointment as Cavaliere del Lavoro dates back to 2 June 1977 and related to the construction industry and telecommunications sectors. Article 194 of law 86 of 3 on the Order of chivalry indicates the requirements for obtaining the decoration: having obtained a mirrored civil and social conduct; have worked in the sector for which decoration is offered on an ongoing basis and for at least twenty years with independent responsibility; have fulfilled tax obligations and have satisfied all social security and welfare obligations in favor of workers; not having carried out economic and commercial activities harmful to the national economy either in Italy or abroad.
