Berlusconi is no longer a senator of the Republic

The Senate has decided the forfeiture of Silvio Berlusconi. The Knight will therefore no longer be a parliamentarian and will soon be replaced by the first of the unelected (Ulisse Di Giacomo) in the Molise region, where the leader of Forza Italia - who had presented himself in various constituencies as head of the list - chose to be elected.

In fact, the Assembly rejected by open vote the nine agendas presented in conflict with the report of the Senate election committee and the president, Pietro Grasso, declared that in this way the non-validation of the election proposed by the Giunta.

The Giunta's report came on the basis of the Severino law after the final sentence of the Cavaliere sentence to four years for tax fraud in the case of Mediaset TV rights. Berlusconi was not present in the Chamber today during the debate and the vote. The votes cast in favor of the revocation amounted to around 193, those against around 114, two abstentions (which in the Senate count as votes against). In favor of the proposal for revocation, the groups of Autonomie, Sel, Civic Choice, M5S and Pd had expressed themselves in the final explanations of vote. The senators of Civic Choice Gabriele Albertini (who declared abstention) and Salvatore Tito Di Maggio expressed their disagreement with the group. The groups of Gal, Lega, Ncd and Fi-Pdl have spoken out against.
