Berlusconi and the sale of AC Milan: three dossiers from the Bank of Italy

The Chief Prosecutor of Milan, Francesco Greco, clarified yesterday that "at the moment there is no open investigation and there is no file for suspected money laundering" on the sale of AC Milan by Silvio Berlusconi to the Chinese, as La Stampa had instead claimed reporting that the judiciary was investigating hypotheses of alleged money laundering in relation to suspicious flows of money from Hong Kong and the enormity (740 million) of the amount disbursed by Yonghong Li to buy the AC Milan club.

But the Turin daily insists that the case is not closed and that on the sale of AC Milan there are three reports from the Bank of Italy's Financial Intelligence Unit which are being examined by the magistrates, who will carry out further investigative investigations, above all " on the initial payment from which the transfer of the Rossoneri company from the hands of Silvio Berlusconi to those of the Chinese financier Yonghong Li started and on the methods of payment of the first three down payments totaling 300 million through a company created in Hong Kong.

"When there are events of this type, so smoky and complicated, where we don't know who the parties are - Greco specified again - we don't proceed immediately with the registrations", but first we study the papers. In short, the case remains open and can proceed in two directions: either towards complete archiving or towards the opening of a real judicial inquiry.

The reply to the advances of "La Stampa" by the president of Fininvest, Marina Berlusconi, who claims the correctness of the family finance company in the sale of Milan, and by the lawyer Niccolò Ghedini who speaks of "media aggression" against Berlusconi for the purpose of " damage a political party during a delicate electoral campaign”.

In the next few days, it will be better understood whether the case is destined to decrease or increase, with clear repercussions on the electoral campaign of the centre-right but also on the management of Milan.
