Berlusconi resets the PDL: new Forza Italia is born

The Bureau of the People of Freedom, which met yesterday, approved the suspension of the party's activities, to focus on the relaunch of Forza Italia - Alfano and the doves desert: Berlusconi minimizes, but the hypothesis of a split is gaining ground – The showdown in the National Council of the PDL on 8 December.

Berlusconi resets the PDL: new Forza Italia is born

Pdl to farewell step. The Bureau of the Popolo della Libertà, met by Silvio Berlusconi at Palazzo Grazioli, resolved "the suspension of the party's activities, to converge towards the relaunch of 'Forza Italia' already publicly announced by President Berlusconi".

"Berlusconi - reads a statement - is entrusted with the full political and legal mandate to activate the necessary procedures, including through the convocations of the statutory bodies, and confers on him the responsibilities associated with leading the Movement to define the objectives, times and methods of the new phase of activity according to the Articles of Association of FI”.

Again in Forza Italia it is defined as “the Movement to which many Italians have linked and still link the great hope of realizing a true liberal revolution and of opposing judicial oppression, bureaucratic oppression, fiscal oppression. Forza Italia is not a part, but an idea, a national project that unites everyone and defends the values of our Christian tradition, the value of life, of the family, of solidarity, of tolerance towards everyone starting with the adversaries ”.

At the moment, however, the party will continue to support the executive with broad agreements, at least until the vote on Berlusconi's forfeiture. Nonetheless, the split hypothesis remains on the table: Alfano and the other doves did not participate in the meeting of the Bureau, even if the Knight minimized their absence. For now it remains like this: the final showdown is expected for the National Council of the PDL, which could be convened for December 8, the same day as the Pd primaries.
