Gas stations, January 25-26 strike confirmed: "If the two-day stop decree doesn't change"

Strike yes-no-yes. At the moment it remains confirmed gas station strike scheduled for 25th and 26st January. After days of tension and talks with the government led by Meloni which had led to a weakening of tone, the petrol stations have decided to confirm the strike for the end of the month, two days in which they will cross their arms, putting national mobility in difficulty.

To the operators of the fuel pumps of Fegica e Figisc Confcommercio they do not like the decree on price transparency published by the government on Saturday, especially in the part relating to the sanctions that petrol stations risk at risk, and they affirm that "under these conditions the strike is confirmed" pending Tuesday's meeting already scheduled at the Ministry of Enterprise and of made in Italy.

“In that session we will evaluate whether the Government intends to accept the requests of the category or not. And we will make the consequent decisions which will be explained in detail in the press conference unitary, announced for Thursday 19 January”.

Fegica on expensive fuel: "The government's blame game continues"

According to the president of Fegica, Robert DiVincenzo, “on the cost of fuel the Government's blame game continues. After having formally certified the absolutely correct behavior of the managers in last week's meeting - reads a note -, first the publication of a bungled decree with no effect on prices, then the launch of an AGCM investigation which would investigate the oil companies not because of their possible responsibilities but because they would not have supervised the gas station attendants evidently guilty of having speculated on prices. It is a serious situation, if it weren't ridiculous,” writes Di Vincenzo.

Fegica's appeal to the Government

“We appeal directly to the Prime Minister to bring the direction of the negotiations back to the collegial responsibility of the Government and to stop this continuous trickle of initiatives and measures taken by individual exponents, who each seem to be playing their own game. The strike is currently confirmed. The solution is in the hands of a specific negotiation that can only start in conditions of absolute seriousness and competence on the problems of a sector that have been waiting for answers for too long".

The protest of the gas station attendants after the transparency decree

As reported by the unions, the decision to confirm the strike for 25 and 26 January is a sign of protest against the government. After participating in the table with the executive on Thursday 12 January, the distributors expected more and instead found themselves facing the risks and demands contained in the decree on price transparency, especially against the sanctions for gas station attendants who will not display prices.

Expensive petrol: sweeping checks in Italy

Just as the distributors have decided to confirm the stop, theAntitrust moves with the Guardia di Finanza and has initiated inspections at the headquarters of some big names in the sector such as Eni, Esso Italiana, Italiana Petroli, Kuwait and Tamoil Italia after the Guardia di Finanza itself had "promptly" sent the documentation on the infringements found in the control activity, in recent months.
