It is the effect of "Save-Italy" maneuver launched by the Monti government. The maxi-excise taxes on fuel continue to drive prices up. Although the companies have decided not to make changes to the price lists, significant price increases have been recorded in the area.

In the South, the monitoring of dailyenergia.it, revealed a petrol price of 1,766 euros per liter while diesel reached 1 euro and 724 cents per litre. 

The average price charged today on petrol ranges from 1,708 euro per liter of Esso to 1,716 Tamoil, while for diesel it goes from 1,685 euro per liter of IP to 1,700 Tamoil.
