Italy has the European record for the price of petrol, with an average pump price of 1,870 euros which exceeds the European average by a good 27,4 cents.
The difference is due "exclusively to the tax authorities", notes the Centro Studi Promotor GL events reported by Ansa and, precisely, for 23,5 cents at higher taxation and for 3,9 cents at a higher industrial price than the average. High prices also for diesel where Italy holds the third place for price increases after the United Kingdom and Sweden.
The calculations are the results of an analysis by the Centro Studi Promotor GL events conducted on data from the European Commission updated to XNUMX September, which also shows that for diesel fuel the responsibilities of the tax authorities are even greater.
The average Italian price recorded by the EU Commission in September differs, in fact, from the European average by as much as 30,2 cents. For the tax component, the gap on the European average is 34,9 cents, while the Italian industrial price is 4,7 cents lower than the average.
