Bentivogli overwhelms Casaleggio: "No to humanity on the bench"

The leader of the metalworkers of the Cisl lashed out at the guru of the Five Stars on the future of work and the effects of technologies: here are the slides he presented at the Corriere della Sera conference - Casaleggio thinks that in 2054 only 1% of people will work and that the basic income will become global but Bentivogli dismantles all his theories

Bentivogli overwhelms Casaleggio: "No to humanity on the bench"

Fim Cisl secretary general, Marco Bentivogli, and Davide Casaleggio, president of Casaleggio Associati and guru of pentastellati, fought a heated duel on the issues of innovation, work and basic income. The occasion was that of the presentation, on Friday in Milan, of TrovoLavoro, the monthly magazine of Corriere della Sera. The clash started from a number, which is a date that Casaleggio had already indicated in a previous interview: 2054, as the year, according to Gianroberto's son, in which we will see "the birth of a global citizen's income".

The video from Casaleggio Associati projected during the debate speaks of "a future world in which people will devote no more than 1% to work, in which companies will increase productivity and profits, but where there will be no redistribution of wealth". Here because the "sovereign citizens" of the whole planet will have to receive a guaranteed minimum income. A somewhat fascinating thesis that opens a debate in which Bentivogli immediately entered with great vigor, defining the theory as "fake news".

"It is absolutely impossible to think of humanity on the bench," said Bentivogli. If anything, we need to "adapt to these changes by seeking innovative solutions such as empowering human beings by making them a resource capable of attracting new types of investment", added the union leader who then presented slides with data to corroborate his thesis. If for Casaleggio the increase in productivity due to the use of increasingly sophisticated technologies is therefore inextricably linked to a veil (not too thin) of negativity, for Marco Bentivogli instead the invitation is to keep away from "technophobes".

Indeed, according to the Fim Cisl trade unionist we are facing the second leap forward of humanity. With an invitation to journalists not to read the data in a linear way anymore, Bentivogli wonders if it is useful to stop or tax innovation, and the answer is obviously negative. Indeed, it is true that he removes mechanics, but also adds electronics, the ecosystem and industrial services. “Work changes, but the workforce does not disappear. It is not the technology that cancels employment, but it is the lack of innovation”. And he claims it taking the virtuous example of Japan, which is one of the countries with the most technology introduced into the labor system, and not surprisingly with one of the lowest unemployment rates in the world. "The disappearance of work is nothing more than one of the many fake news circulating in the world today", Bentivogli reiterates.

  1. It is normal for such a grouping to read reality downwards. Imagining or “seeing” the future as a realization of the human intellect seems like an exercise not contemplated by these “gurus”.
