The shareholders' meeting of Edizione, Atlantia's parent company, has appointed the new Board of Directors – The search for the new CEO continues, who will be called upon to redefine the structures following the agreement with the Government on Autostrade

Benetton, Edizione: Mion remains president, CEO is sought

Yesterday, 21 July, the shareholders' meeting of Edizione, a financial holding company controlled by the Benetton family which in turn controls 30,25% of Atlantia (-1,3% on the Stock Exchange), met. Shareholders approved the 2019 financial statements e confirmed as president of the company Gianni Mion who, however, will later confer operational powers on the new top manager who will be called upon to lead the company. In fact, the search for the new CEO continues – which according to the indications will be “identified shortly” – who will have the task of building the new strategic lines of the holding focusing precisely on Atlantia, which after agreement with the government will be forced to dilute its stake in Autostrade per l'Italia, falling to 11%. 

The shareholders' meeting of Edizione Srl, which met also appointed the new board of directors which will be made up of eight members, four of whom directly attributable to the Benetton family. These are the names: Alessandro Benetton, Christian Benetton, Franca Bertagnin Benetton, Ermanno Boffa (husband of Sabrina Benetton), Giovanni Ciserani, Claudio De Conto (former CEO of Pirelli), Gianni Mion himself, and Vittorio Pignatti-Morano Campori. Therefore, with respect to the previous board of directors, among others, the current CEO and president of Atlantia, Carlo Bertazzo and Fabio Cerchiai and Sabrina Benetton, Gilberto's daughter, leave.

The board will remain in office for the next three years, until December 31, 2022,. The directors underlined “'the great commitment and will of the shareholders of Edizione, the Benetton family, for the relaunch, growth and development of the group and of all the subsidiary and investee companies, after the difficult period due to the pandemic and the tragedy that hit Autostrade for Italy and Atlantia, the latter company which maintains its centrality in the future strategy of Edizione'.

We recall that in addition to the stake in Atlantia, Edizione holds a significant stake in Cellnex (16% through Schema34), 50,1% in Autogrill (again through Schema34) and other significant stakes in Mediobanca and Generali. As for the next appointments: in the next few hours ASPI will send the Ministry of Transport the new economic-financial plan containing the Authority's model which provides for lower tariffs. Over the weekend, however, the Cdp assembly will meet to deliberate on entry into Autostrade, with a 33% share.
