Benetton, change at the top: Laghi replaces Mion

Holding Edition, the safe of the Benetton family, which controls Atlantia and waterfall Autostrade per l'Italia and many other group companies, has a new guide, decided yesterday evening by an extraordinary board. After almost thirty years, except for a short period, leaves Gianni Mion, a trusted man especially of Gilberto Benetton, and in his place Professor Enrico Laghi takes the presidency of Edizione Holding, former commissioner of Ilva and Alitalia and Roman professional used to dialogue with institutions.

The choice of Laghi has above all the aim of unravel the very complicated Autostrade case and the aptitude for mediation and the knowledge of the main protagonists of the Government and the competent ministries suggests that the new president of Edizione Holding, in addition to bringing all the branches of the Benetton family to agreement, could be the decisive step to get out of the tunnel . It is no coincidence that the Benettons have in the last few hours accepted the financial plan which is the basis of negotiation with the Government and with CDP for the complete restructuring of Autostrade.

In the next few days it will be understood whether the Autostrade puzzle can finally be resolved with the entry of Cassa depositi e prestiti as the main shareholder and the departure of the Benettons, which ended up in the storm after the ruinous collapse of the Morandi bridge in Genoa and the telephone interceptions on the unfinished motorway maintenance which led to thearrest of the former CEO of Atlantia, Castellucci.
