The Btp auction goes well but the stock market is weak: Autogrill and Ansaldo Sts shine, Saipem and Finmeccanica fall

The Btp auction goes well but the stock market is weak: Autogrill and Ansaldo Sts shine, Saipem and Finmeccanica fall

It wasn't enough for the stock market the successful outcome of the Btp auction to gain momentum: the Ftse Mib closed fractionally up +0,24% weighed down by the banking sector and by the decline in Saipem and Finmeccanica. The other European markets also closed positive but with the handbrake on after a volatile day: Frankfurt +0,22%, Madrid just above parity, Paris unchanged, with the exception of London +0,88%. Royal Mail made its debut in Great Britain and jumped by 38% in its initial quotations.

We are looking cautiously overseas where at the moment, after the emergence of a possible solution last night, there is no agreement between Republicans and Democrats. Wall Street is also cautious with the Dow Jones up +0,19% and the Nasdaq up +0,23%. On the quarterly front, Wells Fargo and JpMorgan disappointed the market. Today's macro data on consumer confidence did slightly better than expected. US consumer confidence as calculated by the University of Michigan dropped to 75,2 points in mid-October, the lowest level since January, from 77,5 at the end of September. On the currency market, the euro stood at 1,356 and WTI oil lost 1,5% to 101,4 dollars a barrel.

In the day the Italian Treasury successfully placed the six billion maximum amount of BTPs over three and fifteen years. Rates down for both BTPs: over three years it fell to 2,25% from 2,72% in September, when it had reached its highest since last October, over 15 years it fell to 4,59% from 4,88% from a month ago. The CctEu November 2018 was also at auction, sold for 1,25 billion, which reached the maximum amount offered, against the over two billion requested for a hedging ratio of 1,67 The Btp-bund spread drops to around 242 points .

A Business Square Autogrill stands out +6,7% thanks to a Mediobanca report which highlights growth margins for the group in Italy and North America, Buzzi Unicem +3,5%, Ansaldo +3% on expectations of a recovery of contacts between the government and General Electric, Pirelli +2,5%. At the bottom of the Ftse Mib Saipem which pays a negative report by Kepler Chevreux, Finmeccanica -3,8% which pays the proceeds after the rally, Campari -1,46%.

Banks had a tough day in recovery towards the end with Unicredit which closed down by 0,55%, Intesa -0,28%, Mps -1,02%, Banco Popolare unchanged Off the main list, Banca Carige (+7,5%) is still growing on the interest of the Malacalza family.

But on the list is a rally for the titles of the ball. Driving the shares of the three football clubs listed on Piazza Affari is As Roma, the absolute protagonist on the pitch at the start of the season which closed up by 9,3%, doubling its value on the stock market in the last twenty days. Juventus +8,42% and Lazio +19,62%
