La European Investment Bank (Bei) e Intesa Sanpaolo they announced two financial transactions for a total of 750 million euros, intended to support the development of renewable energy and the related industrial supply chain. The agreements aim to build 2GW of new renewable capacity and mobilize over €4,5 billion in investments in the real economy.

The programme is part of the broader context of European Green Deal and of the program Invest EU, aimed at mobilizing public and private resources for strategic projects across Europe, with particular attention to regions with lower per capita income and territorial inclusion objectives.

EIB-Intesa Sanpaolo: new agreements for renewable energy

Il first intervention consists of a 500 million framework financing of euros for photovoltaic projects, wind turbines and bioenergy, with an estimated annual production of approximately 1.200 GWh, enough to cover the energy needs of over 400 Italian families. Most of the plants (approximately 80%) will be built in Italy, while the remainder will be located in other EU countries. The operation is part of the REPowerEU plan, with the possibility of financing up to 75% of eligible costs, compared to the usual 50%.

Il according to agreement provides for a 250 million counter-guarantee euros as part of the EIB's "Wind Package," aimed at supporting investments in the European wind energy sector. This financial leverage is expected to stimulate overall investments of approximately €4 billion and develop approximately 1,6 GW of new renewable capacity annually.

The obiettivo The objective is twofold: to promote the energy transition and to strengthen the competitiveness of the European industrial sector, creating new job opportunities. Specifically, financing the projects in Italy is expected to generate approximately 2.300 jobs during construction and 180 permanent jobs during plant operation.
