EIB: 250 million to Bnl-Paribas for SMEs and Midcaps

The European Investment Bank has provided the BNL-Paribas group with a total of €250 million through two new agreements to finance SMEs and public entities at national or local level, midcaps for research and innovation projects. The contracts include the financing of 200 million for companies with fewer than 250 employees or companies held by the public up to a maximum of 30% of the capital; the funding of 50 million for research and innovation for SMEs and midcaps.

The 'tranche' of the maximum reserved for public entities is aimed at supporting investments in environmental protection, sustainability, renewable energies, energy efficiency, education, reserve, development and innovation

Funding for SMEs and midcap projects of up to 25 million can cover 100% of the costs. For public companies, EIB loans cannot exceed 50% of project costs and in any case the maximum loan cannot exceed 12,5 million with a term of up to 6 years (seven years for research and innovation loans) .

The 50 million 'tranche' falls under the Italian risk sharing 'facility', i.e. the instrument of the European Investment Bank, the Ministry of Economic Development and the Ministry of Economy which supports projects in research, development and innovation of small and medium enterprises through loans from BNL (Paribas group). The contract relating to this "tranche" is part of the risk sharing 'facility' with a credit limit of 500 million which is already earmarked on the basis of agreements with other financial intermediaries.
