Befera: "The tax system discourages foreign investors"

The Italian tax system makes our economic context unattractive for foreign investors. This was underlined by Attilio Befera, director of the Revenue Agency, who took part today in Milan in the conference “The taxman for development”, organized by Assolombarda and Assonime.

"The Italian tax system - he said - is the result of overlapping and stratification of regulations and certainly does not contribute to making our economic context an attractive terrain for foreign investors". More generally, Befera recalled the need to have "certainty and stability" of tax rules, an "essential fact for companies but also for the Revenue Agency".

For Befera "the uncertainties, the continuous changes, the having to run after the changes in the rules due to the needs of the revenue also create difficulties for the financial administrations in the relationship with taxpayers and businesses".
