ECB: bank loans to households and businesses down, -0,8% on an annual basis

The drop in September, on an annual basis, follows that of August: -0,6% – The drop in loans to businesses was particularly heavy: -1,4% compared to September last year.

According to the ECB's statistical report, the decline in bank loans to businesses and households in the Eurozone continued in September, recording a drop of 0,8% compared to the same period of the previous year, a contraction which followed to the decrease (-0,6%) in August.

The negative trend also remains net of the effects of asset sales and securitizations by banks, with -0,4% in September which accentuates the decrease, of 0,2%, in August.

Among the items, the one concerning bank loans to businesses is particularly heavy, down by 1,4% on an annual basis. Again according to ECB data, the M3 aggregate on the money supply moves little compared to August, posting a slight reduction to +2,7% on an annual basis, after +2,8%.
