First sharp decrease in deposits in the Frankfurt coffers after months marked by increases due to the greater caution of banks in lending money.
Yesterday was marked by a net decline in the use of overnight deposits with the ECB by lenders in the euro area.
Statistics compiled by the European Central Bank show that yesterday's marginal deposits amounted to 140,307 billion euros, down sharply compared to the 346,357 billion deposited in Monday's session alone. Also the data provided by Frankfurt specify that the use of loans has increased from 8,953 to 8,417 billion.
