This is the record since July 2010 – Loans requested by commercial banks at 1,318 billion – It is the sign of the stiffening of the interbank market.

ECB, record "overnight" deposits: exceeded 209 billion

The European Central Bank is overflowing with overnight deposits: yesterday the new maximum since July 2010 was reached. The funds delivered by the institutions of the Old Continent to the official branch of the Frankfurt institution reached 209,275 billion euros, against the 199,639 registered on Friday closing.

This was announced by the ECB itself, specifying that the loans requested by commercial banks amounted to 1,318 billion. All this demonstrates that interbank credit is now stiffened: institutions are finding it increasingly difficult to lend money to each other and thus prefer to turn to the Eurotoer, in order to benefit from a decidedly lower rate.
