ECB updates list for direct supervision: Barclays Italia enters, Creval and Credem out

The list of banks that the ECB intends to directly supervise starting from 4 November as "significant credit institutions" has been updated. The total list includes 120 banks against the 128 institutions listed previously with the exit of 12 institutions and the entry of 4 new banks, including Barclays Italia, whose parent company is based outside the euro area.

This is a review that the ECB will undertake on a regular basis with the final list scheduled for 4 September. In Italy the banks that will be supervised directly by the new single European supervision are 14 in all: Banca Carige, Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, Banco Popolare, Banca Popolare dell'Emilia Romagna, Banca Popolare di Milano, Banca Popolare di Sondrio, Banca Popolare of Vicenza, Iccrea Holding, Intesa Sanpaolo, Mediobanca, UniCredit, Ubi Banca, Veneto Banca and the "new entry" Barclays Italia.

Credito Emiliano (Credem) and Banca Piccolo Credito Valtellinese (Creval), which had been included in the list of institutions subjected to the 'Aqr', the overall assessment of the financial statements, and to the stress tests, are not included in the list of direct supervision.
