ECB, bond purchases increased last week (13 billion)

The purchases of bonds by the European Central Bank are growing again, which last week put European government bonds in its belly for 13,305 billion. The data was published today by the Frankfurt institution itself, which - as always - did not specify which countries (and especially in what proportion) benefited from the intervention.

The previous week, the purchases had stopped at an altitude of 6,51 billion euro and in turn had followed by other much higher tranches, of 14,3 and 22 billion respectively. Strong doubts have arisen about the possibility that the ECB's policy will last much longer afterwards the speech delivered today by Mario Draghi, governor of Bank of Italy and since November Trichet's successor at the top of the Eurotower.
