The die has been cast and the second national group of mutual banks (cooperative credit banks), autonomous and alternative to Federcasse, is in sight. The Cassa Centrale Banca, to which the Casse rurali del Trentino and the CC del Nord Est adhere, has crossed the Rubicon and on Thursday 13 October will present its strategic project and the roadmap for creating the second national group of the cooperative credit.
166 CCBs from all over Italy have already signed up for the appointment, which will in fact inaugurate the project to create the second group, i.e. about half of the entire Italian cooperative credit.
The birth of several groups of mutual banks is explicitly provided for by the Renzi reform but requires a capital endowment of one billion euros and, in the event that the total assets reach 30 billion, the supervision of the new group becomes the responsibility of non-Banca d' Italy but of the ECB. This means that the rules of sound and prudent management of cooperative credit will no longer become looser in the second group but will be managed with a more participatory and more efficient style than Federcasse, which risks collecting a resounding defeat on the field with the possible defection of many CCBs intolerant of its bureaucratic centralism which mortifies the link with the territory.
The slogan that characterizes the Verona appointment promoted by the Trentino Bcc makes it clear the diversity of philosophy with Federcasse and in fact reads as follows: "Reform and territories, the value exists if the Bcc is at the centre".
