Bassetti, an infectious disease specialist, is not a candidate but is "ready to be Minister of Health" and shoots zero at Speranza

Matteo Bassetti, a well-known Genoese infectious disease specialist at the San Martino Polyclinic in Genoa and a frequent guest on television broadcasts on the pandemic, is highly courted in an electoral key and, according to what Il Corriere della sera writes this morning, they are above all Brothers of Italy e Italy alive to offer him a candidacy for the elections on 25 September. But Bassetti doesn't seem interested in the elections.

However, the infectious disease specialist - according to what he declared in an interview with the Adnkronos agency - would be ready, if he were ever offered, to take on the role of Minister of Health in the next government. "If someone asked me, I'd be flattered and available to lend a hand as a technician."

BASSETTI: "HEALTHCARE REFORM IS THE LAST FIASCO OF HOPE"

Bassetti does not miss the opportunity to criticize the current Minister of Health and leader of Article 1, Roberto Hope, stating that "there are many things that can be improved, compared to what has been done to date" and that the very rules of the fight against Covid should be changed because it would be necessary to ask why, despite the various restrictions applied, there are still so many deaths. "I think it would be better if a technician went to the Ministry of Health, because there is no time to wait for someone to get used to the subject" argues Bassetti who then launches a broadside directed against Speranza: "The health reform, disheveled and populist , it is Speranza's latest fiasco” because “community homes and hospitals are only the latest bankruptcy initiative of this Minister of Health: where will doctors and nurses ever find who will have to work 7 days a week? Utopia"
