Palladian Basilica “FLOW1” Italian and Chinese contemporary art

Flow_1 curated by Peng Feng and Maria Yvonne Pugliese, is a new and different contemporary art exhibition, organized by the YARC – Yvonneartecontemporanea Cultural Association in collaboration with the Municipality of Vicenza and with the patronage of the Veneto Region and the support of the Confucius Institute of Venice.

To create a dialogue between two cultures, Western and Chinese, the curators, Maria Yvonne Pugliese and Peng Feng, have worked on the essential value of each work of art, affirming in this exhibition the priority of the object over its interpretation. The 25 Italian and Chinese artists invited to exhibit produced one or more works that could best express their poetics. In fact, despite being a collective exhibition, each artist has an important space suitable for expressing their vision of the world.
The gaze of each visitor will be able to grasp and make their own differences and similarities both within the same culture and in the comparison between them.
The visitor is at the center of the work of the curators who have set up the possibility of accessing three orders of interpretation of the exhibition.

The first, precisely, the personal gaze where one's knowledge, one's memory and one's culture will give a reading result in direct contact with the "object - work of art", without linguistic barriers, without constraints of pre-established codes. The second is contact with the artist's gaze. In fact, each artist was invited to produce a contribution that could tell the physical and mental process that led him to the production of that work and to his own poetics.
The third is the study of some issues that will be the result of the dialogue between Italian and Chinese artists and philosophers invited to the FlowTalk on 17 September: the relationship between tradition and innovation, the relationship with nature, the value of the work of art against the simulacrum of communication, the role of the artist in contemporary society. In the Basilica Palladiana it will therefore be possible to walk through the exhibition halls with paintings, videos, installations, projects, which speak of the current feeling in the variety of two anthropologically different realities but both photographed in the same contemporary space/time.

The project FLOW_1 (where the number indicates the first of future and various editions) is the result of the collaboration between 25 artists, 2 philosophers, 1 philosophical publishing house, various sponsors, collectors and art lovers as well as, fundamentally, the collaboration of the Municipality of Vicenza.

The artists on display: Aisa Jiang Tuerxun, Stefano Arienti, Bianco-Valente, Stefano Cagol, Piero Gilardi, Hu Guoqing, Huang Yan, Massimo Kaufmann, Li Hongbo, Marcantonio Lunardi, Iler Melioli, Mu Boyan, Laurina Paperina, Peng Si, Elena Pugliese, Tamara Repetto, Serse Roma, Wang Rui, Alberto Scodro, Cristina Treppo, Patrick Tuttofuoco, Dany Vescovi, Zhang Fangbai, Zhao Xu.
