Barilla opens the largest hi-tech warehouse in the world in Parma

Barilla inaugurates the largest automated warehouse in the world in the historic center of Parma-Pedrignano. The record facility is the result of an investment of 15 million, funds that add up to the 40 allocated for the Rubbiano sauce factory.

The new hi-tech structure has an area of 40 square meters (the equivalent of eight football fields) and is used for sorting the goods produced in the plant itself (mainly durum wheat and egg pasta) and that coming from other establishments (sauces, biscuits, baked goods).

Yesterday, when inaugurating the super-warehouse in the presence of Flavio Zanonato, Minister of Economic Development, President Guido Barilla reiterated that the company intends to "double its turnover by 2020". To rise from the current three billion euros to six, we will have to grow by 300-400 million a year. How? “Both for internal lines and with acquisitions”, Barilla told “Il Sole 24 Ore”, specifying that “we are evaluating the acquisitions. Where? At the moment I can't confirm if in North or South America or in Asia”.

As for the present, “we are confident about the end of this year – continued Barilla -. The Italian market drops by 1% in terms of volume but we are growing by 5% abroad”.
