The gross earnings recorded by Barclays in the third quarter are multiplied by seven. The British bank closed the June-September period with a pre-tax profit of 2,42 billion pounds (2,75 billion euros), against the 327 million recorded in the same months of 2010.

The banking giant explains that it has reduced its overall exposure to Spain, Italy, Portugal, Ireland and Greece by 31% (to £8bn), which "continues to be carefully managed and adequately valued", reads a statement. Note. In the first nine months of the year, the group's accounts improved overall by 18% compared to 2010.
