At least 13 would be dead in Barcelona, after a van it ran over several people on the Rambla. There are also several injured. The avenue was cordoned off and evacuated.
The driver - wanted by the police - abandoned the vehicle and fled on foot. The van went up on the central part of the famous avenue in the center of Barcelona, traveled by many tourists, and crashed into a newsstand at the intersection with Carrer Bonsucces after investing about ten people. Public TV Rtve showed an image of some people lying on the ground.
The Catalan government has ordered the closure of the Plaza Catalunya metro stations. Police have called on shopkeepers to close their premises as a precautionary measure. According to official sources it is a terrorist attack.
