Bank of Italy: the career reform is coming

After 20 years of waiting, the career reform for non-executive staff is about to arrive at the Bank of Italy. A referendum promoted by three unions obtained a narrow victory and the signing of the agreement with the Bank is expected next week. However, the proposal has produced a clear split between the unions, especially between national acronyms which, however, in the national tables, in Abi, are in harmony.

The reform concerns almost 5 employees in the central administration of the Bank led by Ignazio Visco and follows the recent agreement for managers which has reformulated careers and increased meritocratic criteria.

The agreement on operatives is promoted by the Falbi unions (the one with the greatest weight in via Nazionale), Fisac and Uilca. From a prospectus released by the three acronyms, the career reform would allow a young person hired in 2010 and with a promotion to coauditore (the average figure) in 2019 to improve their overall gross salary by almost 40 thousand euros for the next ten years.

Other acronyms are against it, including Fabi, according to which the agreement will lead to a "non-reform" of careers. Fabi writes in a trade union leaflet, the draft agreement even has lower costs than a proposal made by the Bank last September which ended in nothing.

Fabi proposes to the members of Falbi, Fisac and Uil who voted 'no' to the referendum question, to temporarily revoke the registration to the respective acronyms to make the union representatives lack the majority quorum and thus prevent the signing of the agreement with the bank scheduled for Tuesday.
