Bank of Italy, record debt in April: 1948,58 billion

Italy is still in a recession and the debt continues to increase. The data published today by the Bank of Italy on our country's public debt are not very reassuring. According to the institute of Via Nazionale, in April the value of the stock of debt has reached a new record: 1.948,584 billion euros, an increase compared to the March peak (1.946 billion).

This is what we read in the supplement to the Statistical Bulletin dedicated to Bankitalia's public finance. The news comes less than 24 hours after the last one announcement by Prime Minister Mario Monti, which revealed its intention to launch a disposal plan to try to reduce the debt, now over 120% of GDP.

No major changes, however, in tax revenues. In the first four months of 2012 they amounted to 111,295 billion euros, while in the month of April alone revenues rose to 28,127 billion.
