Bank of Italy: PA debt, new high in June

In June, in fact, the debt rose to 2.281,4 billion, an increase of 2,2 billion compared to the previous month.

New ceiling for general government debt. In June, in fact, the debt rose to 2.281,4 billion, an increase of 2,2 billion compared to the previous month.

This was announced by the Bank of Italy in the dossier 'Public finance, borrowing requirement and debt', explaining that 'the increase reflected the borrowing requirement of general government (8,4 billion), partly offset by the decrease in Treasury liquidity ( for 6,3 billion to 52,6 and were equal to 92,5 billion at the end of June 2016); the overall effect of the spreads and premiums on issue and redemption, the revaluation of inflation-linked securities and the change in the exchange rate increased debt by 0,1 billion.'

With reference to the sub-sectors, specifies Bankitalia, the debt of central administrations increased by 4 billion, that of local administrations decreased by 1,9 billion; the debt of social security institutions remained practically unchanged.
