The Spanish bank also confirmed its bailout plan: the elimination of almost one in four jobs in the current staff, and the closure of more than a third of the branches.

Saved from bankruptcy by an 18 billion euro European aid in December, the Spanish bank Bankia today announced a record loss of $19,193 billion in 2012.

The institute therefore confirms the red already communicated at the end of November on the occasion of the presentation of the corporate restructuring plan, which provides for 4.500 jobs suppressed (22% of the current staff) and the closure of over a third of its agencies.
