Ultra-wide band, the clash with Tim widens. Gallia (Cdp): on Metroweb falsehood
It is an open confrontation on the tender for Metroweb and on the Infratel tenders, between the CEO of Tim, Flavio Cattaneo, and the correspondent of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Fabius Gaul.

The number one of Cdp replies harshly to the sentences uttered yesterday by Cattaneo during a parliamentary hearing during which he spoke of "inadmissible requests", which can be confirmed, among other things, by witnesses, in relation to the attempt to get 51% of Metroweb, today OpenFiber. Tim's top manager had in fact explained that, in exchange for the share in the telecommunications company, 100% of Telecom Sparkle, whose turnover was worth about thirteen times that of Metroweb.

Cattaneo, with reference to the Infratel tenders for the ultra broadband band in the white areas, had also added: "We no longer participate in the tenders because we believe they are built in a certain way. If they are built ad hoc, then for me they can do it even without a tender and give it to whoever they deem most appropriate".

Words that did not go down to the CEO of Cassa Depositi e Prestiti, Fabio Gallia, who responded harshly, defining Cattaneo's statements "serious and false". According to Gallia, the controversy surrounding Tim's number one "diverts from the real problem which is that of Italy's delay in digital infrastructure, as well as from the fact that OpenFiber has played a crucial role in stimulating competition and in initiating investments for fiber".

Telecom Italia's rejoinder is ready, according to which Cattaneo's statements on Metroweb “correspond to the truth” and the facts to which he refers "took place in the presence of several witnesses, who will be able to confirm the proposal for the corporate swap between Metroweb and Sparkle in each venue".

We remind you that, with regard to Infratel tenders, the Minister of Economic Development also intervened harshly on Wednesday, Carlo Calenda, reiterating that: “The statements made today by the Chief Executive Officer of TIM are serious and unacceptable all the more as they were made in an institutional setting. The Infratel tenders, in which TIM participated together with other operators, were structured in full compliance with national and European rules. I am sure that the company will immediately return to using an appropriate language in relations with the Government".
