Ultra broadband, Trentino "all digital" by 2019

The most wired province in Italy launches an additional 67 million euro program to offer connections at 100 megabytes for businesses and 30 megabytes for families throughout the territory - The president of the Autonomous Province of Trento: "Internet is a fundamental tool for competitiveness, we estimate a driving force of 190 million in private investments

Trentino has the most widespread fiber optic infrastructure in Italy. There are approximately 1100 kilometers which have made it possible to guarantee ultra-fast connections to public offices, hospitals and over 2000 companies in the major industrial areas. Now, however, the Province, in fact, is aiming for another ambitious goal: to create by 2019 the conditions for truly speaking of the "digital mountain" by guaranteeing connectivity to 100 megabytes to those who use the internet for work (companies in all sectors and freelancers) and to schools and at least 30 Mbps (but the final goal will be 50 Mbps) to families.

More than 67 million euros have been allocated to do this with the aim of offering the same access opportunities to the ultra-fast network throughout the country.
"Today the Internet is a fundamental tool for ensuring competitiveness - commented the president of the Autonomous Province of Trento Ugo Rossi - and this is even more true in an area like ours, characterized by the strong diffusion of SMEs, by the importance of the tourist component but also of the assets represented by freelancers. Being able to 'run' with the speed guaranteed by the optical fiber will help the whole of Trentino to overcome the important challenges it is facing”.

"To this - continues Rossi - must also be added the fact that moving such important resources will immediately generate an estimated induced value of around 190 million euros between investments by telecommunications operators and the interventions that users will make also thanks to the credit stimulus from tax with which the Province will cover a large part of the costs incurred for connections and adaptations of the systems".
