Broadband, government reopens consultations

This was announced by the Undersecretary for Communications Alberto Giacomelli: "Telecom Italia requested it. Now the areas of intervention will be redefined". During the annual meeting, the former monopolist had explained that he will increase investments to 700 million to bring fiber to homes

The Italian government will have to redefine the areas of intervention for the broadband telephone network development plan, following the reopening of consultations at the request of Telecom Italia.

This was stated by the Undersecretary for Communications, Antonello Giacomelli, on the sidelines of a conference in Rome.
The former monopolist yesterday announced that it intends to increase investments in the network to 700 from the previous 500 million in 2017 and that it will bring optical fiber to the customer's apartment (fiber to the home, ftth).

"Consultations have now reopened at the request of Telecom Italia," said Giacomelli. “We see it as a good thing for further investments. This will lead us to redefine the areas of intervention”.
