From January 2019, XNUMX the cash machine it will become more useful. It will no longer be used to make withdrawals and payments via Pos, but also to purchase products and services online on the websites E-commerce and pay taxes. All from your smartphone, without the need to memorize the card number or pin: just indicate the phone number. Not only that: the interbank costs for payments via debit card up to 15 euros will also be eliminated.
These are the main news arriving with the Bancomat Pay service, presented by Bancomat Spa on Wednesday morning at the third edition of Payment room. With these new functions, Italian debit cards – which number more than 37 million – join the other instruments used today for electronic payments, i.e. prepaid cards and credit cards.
The difference compared to the "sister" cards is in the greater simplicity of use. As explained by Alessandro Zollo, managing director of Bancomat, “unlike the other tools you will not have to enter passwords or other codes but only your telephone number. Our goal, through the acquisition of jiffi technology, already used today in Italy by 5 million customers, is to bring ATMs to mobile phones to allow electronic payments to be made. Furthermore, to favor this mechanism of modernization of the country and make payments safer and faster, we have decided to eliminate interbank costs for all payments of less than 15 euros".
Also thanks to this innovation, the company hopes to encourage the use of electronic money by Italians, which they still use today cash for over 80% of payments, against a European average of less than 60%.
