Banco Bpm changes bancassurance: goodbye to Unipol and Aviva

Banco Bpm dissolves the partnerships with the Unipol group (life business) and Aviva (protection business), expiring on 31 December this year. This was announced by the bank, specifying that it intends to "promote a process aimed at identifying new strategic structures in the Bancassurance sector, in line with the objectives of developing and making the Group's insurance business more efficient, for the benefit of customers".

Furthermore, Banco Bpm has acknowledged UnipolSai's decision to exercise the put option on its shareholding in Popolare Vita, the value of which will be defined by a specific procedure involving the input of independent experts. In any case, the Bank led by Giuseppe Castagna estimates "insignificant" impacts on capital ratios from the bancassurance restructuring process. A process in which "leading insurance companies have expressed their interest in the partnership with Banco Bpm", underlines the institute.

Unipol, in turn, announced a restructuring of the banking and insurance sector, with the birth of a bad bank into which 3 billion bad loans will flow.
