Banco Bpm boom in Piazza Affari, Apple flies to Wall Street

The return to profit of the bank led by Castagna after the merger pushes the stock on the Stock Exchange which comes close to a 10% increase to then settle just below 7% – Apple's race to set the new record does not stop at the Nasdaq intraday – European price lists better than the US ones – Fixed the coupon for the 10-year BTP.

Closing in fractional increase for the European stock exchanges, while on the other side of the ocean the Wall Street indices continue the session with little movement. In Milan, the quarterly quarterly season continues at full speed, with the Ftse Mib which finished trading with a +0,4% to 21.575 points. Also positive were the Ftse 100 of London (+0,7%), the Dax of Frankfurt (+0,5%), the Cac 40 of Paris (+0,4%) and the Ibex 35 of Madrid (+0,2, XNUMX%).

The data on inflation and retail sales for April in the USA were published during the day, disappointing results, while in the morning Eurostat released the data on industrial production for March in the Eurozone, which recorded a -0,1% on monthly basis (+0,3% the consensus) and +1,9% on an annual basis (+2,3% the consensus). Meanwhile, the dollar depreciated against other currencies following weak macro data, climbing back to 1,092 against the dollar.

Among the raw materials, oil reversed course in the end with Brent (-0,3%) at 50,6 dollars and Wti (-0,4%) at 47,6 dollars, while gold took advantage of the drop in greenback to regain 1.230 dollars an ounce. Finally, the yields on government bonds fell, with the rate on the BTP falling by around 4 basis points to 2,25%, separated by a spread with the Bund in the 185 basis point area.

In Piazza Affari it is Banco Bpm's big day: the bank's balance sheet returns to profit after the merger. The stock is the best of the Ftse Mib with a gain of more than 6% to 2,792 euros per share. Contrast the other banks, with Unicredit adding another +2% to yesterday's rally following the quarterly. Other financial companies did well with gains over 1% for Azimut, Banca Generali, Finecobank, Unipol. A growing quarter also for Atlantia, which however closed weakly: +0,1%.

On Wall Street, a new all-time record for Apple: the title reached over 156 dollars in the intraday, after the record reached last Monday, when the shares were inflamed on a possible purchase by the financier Warren Buffett and on the hopes of an acceleration of the launch of the new iPhone. Market capitalization now well exceeds $800 billion.
