Banco Bpm-Airc: partnership against women's cancer

Banco Bpm confirms its commitment as institutional partner of AIRC aimed at promoting the collection of funds in support of scientific research and promoting the dissemination of correct information on the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of cancer.

In May the commitment will concern above all the research of AIRC on female tumors on the occasion of the Azelea della Ricerca initiative. “Banco BPM – reads a note – in fact supports a significant portion of the shipping costs of the seedlings, which for the first time in thirty-six years are not distributed in the streets by volunteers, but are available exclusively online on Amazon.it and sent to supporters directly at home”.

Throughout the month, customers and employees will be involved in fundraising (which can be donated via home banking, bank transfer and the site) promoted by the various communication channels of the group, both online and in the local branches.

“Supporting the AIRC Foundation means sharing values and objectives, first of all the importance of supporting scientific research and its dissemination. The projects and events that our Bank supports have found ample response in the involvement of colleagues and their families, but also in that of customers and the local communities in which we operate. We are proud of the partnership with AIRC, which bears witness to our Bank's willingness to be alongside the excellence of our country in all sectors", he comments Joseph Chestnut, CEO of Banco Bpm.

"The awareness of the centrality that scientific research plays in everyone's health and future is, today, more widespread than ever" - he declares Niccolo Contucci, General Manager of the AIRC Foundation – “We are therefore particularly grateful to Banco Bpm for having already sided with the AIRC, its researchers and cancer research a year ago. The knowledge and treatments available today are the result of decades of studies and investments in support of the best researchers, which is why it is essential to continue to support their work with confidence, to build together an increasingly cancer-free future".

The bank recalls how in 2019 65 thousand euros were disbursed in favor of research, campaigns and events concerning cancers affecting women, while a further 100 euros were donated on the occasion of last year's Research Azalea. As for the research on pediatric tumors, in 2019 Banco Bpm supported eight special events with a share of 215.000 euros, helping to produce a gross fundraising impact for AIRC of 898.000 euros. Finally, for the support of careers of young researchers 690m euros were raised.
