Popular banks, we are moving towards a 5% ceiling for voting rights

In the reform of cooperative banks, a cap on the right to vote in the assembly for the first two years, the ceiling would be triggered in those banks that will have to transform into joint stock companies. According to various sources, reported by Radiocor, this would be the idea that is making its way into the government to meet the requests for modification rained down on the decree which requires the transformation of popular banks into joint stock companies for those institutions that have assets exceeding 8 billion euros. The "ceiling" on the right to vote would be set at 5% of the capital.

The possibility of introducing the limit emerged at the end of the meeting between the deputies of the Democratic Party and the rapporteurs Marco Causi and Luigi Taranto, before the resumption of work by the finance and production activities commissions of the Chamber on reform of public banks. A choice, this, which seems to have been espoused by the majority of the Democratic Party, but which has nevertheless divided the party internally.
